Qatar and Saudi Arabia are enhancing their economic and trade cooperation through the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council, aiming to boost bilateral trade and support private-sector growth. During recent discussions, senior officials from both nations reviewed joint initiatives and explored strategies to increase economic integration, signaling a commitment to strengthen ties.
Trade between the two countries reached approximately $1.98 billion in 2025, marking a 36 percent increase compared to the previous year. In the first quarter of 2026, bilateral trade continued to grow, with an 18 percent increase that surpassed the countries’ 15 percent target. Notably, Qatari exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded $1.42 billion, and over 977 Saudi companies are currently operating in Qatar.
The dialogue between Qatar and Saudi Arabia also focused on improving import and export procedures, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and enhancing supply-chain integration. Both sides are keen on expanding financial cooperation and addressing trade barriers to facilitate easier operations for companies within their markets.
A significant topic of discussion was the preparation for launching a Joint Economic and Trade Strategy. This strategy will outline priorities, initiatives, and measurable targets for the next phase of their economic collaboration. The emphasis is on completing agreed initiatives and tackling outstanding trade challenges to further promote economic and industrial integration.
