Vietnam and Qatar have underscored their deepening diplomatic and economic ties during a National Day celebration in Doha, marking 81 years since Vietnam’s establishment as a nation. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, along with senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders attended the event, emphasizing the commitment to peace, dialogue, and international cooperation.
The diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Qatar, established in 1993, has flourished, with both nations expanding partnerships across various sectors including trade, investment, energy, and telecommunications. The recent commemoration served as a platform to highlight these growing relations and the potential for further collaboration.
Bilateral trade between the two countries has experienced significant growth, reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This increase reflects the expanding business engagements and investment opportunities that have emerged over the years. Both Vietnam and Qatar are keen on further enhancing these economic ties.
High-level exchanges have been pivotal in strengthening the Vietnam-Qatar relationship. Notably, Qatar’s prime minister visited Vietnam in October 2024, signaling both nations’ interest in advancing their cooperative efforts. The two countries are exploring avenues to broaden their economic partnerships, leveraging the robust frameworks in place.
As Vietnam continues to develop and strengthen its international partnerships, the ongoing dialogue and cooperation with Qatar stand out as a model of effective bilateral relations in the region. The focus remains on nurturing these connections to foster mutual growth and prosperity.
