The Ukrainian capital was rocked by explosions shortly after residents were alerted to incoming ballistic missiles through air-raid warnings. The attacks impacted six different districts in Kyiv, leaving significant damage in their wake. Among the hardest hit areas was the Solomianskyi district, where an apartment building sustained damage. Fires were ignited in a supermarket and a residential property in the Sviatoshynskyi district. Additional sites affected included a shopping and entertainment center in the Dniprovskyi district, another apartment building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, and a non-residential facility.
Beyond Kyiv, the central Dnipropetrovsk region also suffered casualties with a Russian drone attack resulting in one fatality. Meanwhile, on Russian soil, officials in the Kursk region reported one death following a Ukrainian strike, reflecting the ongoing and escalating conflict between the two nations.
This latest surge of hostilities comes as Ukraine has stepped up its long-range strikes on Russian territory, specifically targeting infrastructure and energy facilities. The removal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has triggered speculation about potential wider changes within the military leadership, sparking protests. For a third consecutive day, thousands have gathered in various cities to voice their opposition to the decision, highlighting the internal challenges faced by the Ukrainian government alongside the external conflict.
