At the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting in Riyadh, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and QatarEnergy President and CEO, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, emphasized the need to insulate global energy supplies from political conflicts. He urged the international community to develop a framework that protects energy infrastructure and ensures the continuity of energy supplies regardless of geopolitical tensions.

Al Kaabi expressed Qatar’s support for Saudi Arabia and underscored the importance of international cooperation to maintain energy security. He stated that regional conflicts have led to a global energy crisis, affecting about 20 percent of the world’s hydrocarbon supplies. Al Kaabi highlighted that attacks on energy infrastructure have caused billions of dollars in damage and increased market volatility, signaling a need for stronger protective measures.

During his address, Al Kaabi linked energy security directly to geopolitical stability, noting its critical role in sustaining the global economy. He called for enhanced international efforts to safeguard energy assets, strengthen supply chains, and ensure reliable energy distribution amid increasing regional tensions.

The forum convened energy ministers, government representatives, industry leaders, and international organizations to discuss vital topics, including energy security, supply chain resilience, and the evolving dynamics of global energy demand and supply. The discussions aimed to foster collaboration and develop strategies to mitigate the impacts of geopolitical conflicts on the energy sector.
