Spain and Qatar have renewed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, focusing on diplomatic engagement, economic cooperation, and adherence to international law. This commitment was highlighted during Spain’s National Day celebrations in Doha, where Spanish Ambassador Álvaro Renedo Zalba underscored the growing partnership between the two nations.
Ambassador Renedo Zalba emphasized the importance of multilateral diplomacy in the face of rising international tensions and praised Qatar for its role in promoting regional stability. He expressed Spain’s solidarity with Qatar following attacks on its territory and reiterated Spain’s support for Palestinian statehood and a two-state solution, opposing annexation, forced displacement, and settler violence. Renedo Zalba stressed that lasting peace must be grounded in international law and dialogue.
Economic cooperation forms a crucial pillar of the Spain-Qatar relationship, with Spanish companies actively contributing to Qatar’s development in areas such as energy, technology, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. The two countries are also expanding cooperation in security and counterterrorism, particularly in light of the upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup preparations.
The strategic dialogue between Spain and Qatar is expected to continue, with both nations focusing on peace, stability, and sustainable development. This ongoing collaboration highlights their shared commitment to addressing global challenges through diplomatic initiatives and economic partnerships.
