In a series of diplomatic engagements, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, held important discussions with key leaders from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, focusing on regional stability and bilateral relations. On Monday, Sheikh Mohammed received a phone call from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif. The leaders delved into strategies for bolstering bilateral ties and examined the latest regional developments. A significant part of their dialogue centered on Pakistan’s mediation efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, with the aim of fostering security and stability.
Sheikh Mohammed conveyed Qatar’s gratitude for Pakistan’s mediation efforts, which have been instrumental in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran. He emphasized Qatar’s unwavering support for these initiatives to resolve the crisis through peaceful means. The Qatari leader underscored the necessity for all parties involved to actively participate in these efforts, thereby setting the stage for meaningful negotiations that could culminate in a sustainable peace agreement in the region.
Furthering his diplomatic outreach, Sheikh Mohammed also spoke with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud. Their discussion revolved around strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional developments, notably the ceasefire between the United States and Iran. The Qatari Prime Minister expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia following a drone attack, condemning the assault and affirming Qatar’s support for Saudi Arabia’s measures to safeguard its security and sovereignty. He reiterated the importance of engaging with mediation efforts to address the crisis’s underlying causes through dialogue, aiming for a long-lasting resolution that prevents future escalations.
In another significant conversation, Sheikh Mohammed engaged with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The dialogue touched on strengthening bilateral ties and assessing regional developments, particularly those linked to the ceasefire between the United States and Iran. Both leaders highlighted the critical need for all parties to positively engage with ongoing mediation efforts, to address the crisis’s root causes through peaceful dialogue, and to forge a sustainable agreement that averts renewed tensions.
