Qatar and Egypt have pledged to enhance their bilateral relations, focusing on expanding cooperation in critical areas such as economics, investment, and labor. This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting in Cairo between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

Both nations expressed satisfaction with the significant growth in their economic ties, noting that trade between Qatar and Egypt saw an impressive 80 percent increase in 2025. This surge in economic activity is complemented by ongoing Qatari investments in Egypt, particularly a sustainable aviation fuel production initiative within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. These developments underscore the strengthening financial relationship between the two countries.

Discussions during the meeting also covered labor and consular cooperation, reflecting a comprehensive approach to their partnership. Regional issues were a key focus, with both sides emphasizing the need to work together to reduce tensions and foster stability. The officials underscored the importance of maintaining coordination on matters related to Gaza and reiterated their commitment to seeking diplomatic resolutions to regional conflicts.

In addition to economic and regional discussions, Qatar and Egypt highlighted the critical importance of maritime security and the freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. This focus aims to protect international trade routes and ensure regional stability, which are vital for the prosperity and security of both nations.
